Charles (Chuck) Stark Named Regional Vice President for South Texas

South Texas Health System announces the appointment of Charles (Chuck) Stark to the position of Regional Vice President in South Texas effective June 29, 2018. In this position, Stark will have regional responsibility for hospitals in the McAllen, Edinburg, Laredo and Eagle Pass markets.

Prior to joining South Texas Health System, Stark served as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, whose operations include a 645-bed acute care hospital specializing in heart and vascular services, women’s services, neurosciences and orthopedics, behavioral health and free-standing emergency department services. He previously served in a number of leadership roles including President and CEO of Columbus Regional Health System (now Piedmont Columbus Regional) in Columbus, Georgia, President and CEO of Firelands Regional Health System in Sandusky, Ohio and Senior Vice President of the Acute Care Division of HealthSouth Corporation (now Encompass Health) in Birmingham, Alabama.

Stark earned both his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration from Duke University. “Chuck has extensive healthcare experience and a proven track record to help lead the South Texas market,” said Marvin Pember, Executive Vice President, UHS and President, Acute Care Division. “We are thrilled to bring his expertise to such growing and thriving markets.
