Services
South Texas Behavioral Health Center features 134 beds in dedicated units to accommodate inpatient treatment for adult, child, adolescent and geriatric patients. Programs are designed to help us treat a wide range of behavioral health conditions and addictive disorders. Our teams develop individualized treatment plans which lead the path to recovery.

Programs such as partial hospitalization and outpatient therapy can assist with an ongoing improvement of health (or help an individual through a specific crisis).

We are committed to providing compassionate, quality care in an atmosphere which can assure patients will reach their optimum level of functioning.

Children & Adolescents
Ages 4 – 17
We are the exclusive providers of adolescent and child behavioral health services to the Rio Grande Valley—offering a comprehensive range of services for children challenged with depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder, disruptive disorders and other behavioral concerns.

Adults
Ages 18 – 55
Treatment plans are solution-focused, goal-oriented and based on the problem-specific needs of each patient, including chemical dependency treatment. Overall length of stay is varied and customized to help each individual.

Senior Adults
Ages 55 and older
Designed to provide an active approach to treatment for senior adults who may be experiencing a variety of emotional or behavioral health concerns, our focus is to assist patients in reaching their optimum level of functioning.

Reassurance
We are accredited by The Joint Commission which means that we’ve passed stringent tests for quality patient treatment.

Seven Major Types of Behavioral Disorders

An illness caused by a chemical imbalance that affects the body, mood and thoughts.

2. Bipolar disorder

A brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy and the ability to function.

3. Schizophrenia

A chronic and severe brain disabling disorder affecting about one percent of the U.S. population.

4. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

A condition that makes it hard for children to control behavior and concentration — also continues into adulthood.

5. Eating disorders

Treatable medical illnesses involving serious disturbances in eating behavior, such as extreme or unhealthy reduction of food intake or severe overeating. The most common eating disorders are anorexia and bulimia.

6. Substance/alcohol abuse

Treatable illnesses involving the overuse of alcohol or drugs to the extent that they disrupt a person’s personal and professional life.

7. Anxiety

Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Social Phobia (or Social Disorder).
