Delivery-Recovery-Postpartum (LDRP) rooms offer a comfortable homelike environment.

Expectant parents will find comprehensive prenatal care at McAllen Medical Center’s Birthing Center of South Texas. Physicians and staff provide quality healthcare for preconception preparation, to expectant mothers, their unborn children, and to new infants. A full range of healthcare is available at the hospital and at our ambulatory care center.

Childbirth

Our private Labor, Delivery and Recovery Suites are exquisitely designed and equipped with high technology that’s comfortably arranged for a pleasant environment during your labor and those first days after birthing.

While complications can be worrisome, take comfort in knowing we’re skilled and equipped to handle emergencies. The obstetrical team has years of experience in managing the difficulties that can arise during childbirth. And our neonatal intensive care unit is just steps from Labor and Deliver for babies who need special monitoring due to prematurity or other complications.

Frozen Banana and Blueberry Parfait

  • 2 large ripe bananas, peeled, cut into chunks and frozen
  • 1/4 c vanilla soy beverage or milk with a few drops of vanilla

  • 1/2 c blueberries or other diced fruit

  • the tiniest drizzle of pure maple syrup Frozen Banana and Blueberry Parfait
Cut banana chunks into slices and set in a food processor with soy drink or milk. Process until thoroughly pureed. Stir in maple syrup. Set a few blueberries in the bottom of two parfait glasses. Spoon about one third of the banana mixture on top. Repeat layers twice more, ending with blueberries. Serve immediately.
