Valley Veterans Attend Enrollment Fair at Edinburg Regional Medical Center

Edinburg, Texas (January 15, 2010)—South Texas Health System held its first Veterans Enrollment Fair of the year on Friday, January 15th at Edinburg Regional Medical Center located at 1102 W. Trenton Road in Edinburg.

Since the spring of 2009, South Texas Health System has held several on- campus fairs to help the Hidalgo County Veterans Services Department and VA Texas Valley Costal Bend Health Care System provide enrollment assistance for Valley veterans seeking to receive their VA health benefits closer to home.

South Texas Health System proudly provides acute inpatient medical, surgical and mental health care as well as emergency services at its facilities under a contract awarded by the Department of Veteran Affairs in March 2009. The realization of this contract eliminates the need for Valley veterans to make the four- to five-hour drive to San Antonio for hospitalization.

The next Veterans Enrollment Fair is scheduled for Friday, February 5th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at McAllen Heart Hospital located at 1900 South "D" Street in McAllen. The event will be held in the hospital's conference room.

For more information, call 1-877-752-0650 or log on to www.southtexas.va.gov and click on Texas Valley Coastal Bend HCS.

* If you're already enrolled for VA benefits, you do not need to re-enroll.
