Checking Out and Discharge
Because the hospital admits and discharges many patients every day, your room will be assigned to another patient shortly after you leave. Checkout time will be no later than 11 a.m., and your physician will order your discharge accordingly. If you find that you may be delayed, please tell your nurse as early in the day as possible so that alternate arrangements can be made in preparing for new admissions.
In preparation for discharge, the staff will work with you to prepare for your return home. You will receive instructions about follow-up care, such as diet, medications, level of activity, and follow-up appointments with your physician. A nurse and physician will review these instructions with you. Please be sure to ask them about any concerns you may have. Medications can be filled at the Outpatient Pharmacy. Your doctor may call the prescription in, or if you have a hand written prescription you can bring it to the Pharmacy located on the ground level of the Ambulatory Care Center.
