South Texas Health System Receives Statewide Award for Quality

THA Aston Award AUSTIN (Jan. 31, 2012) — For its efforts to reduce the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia, pressure ulcers and health care-acquired infections, South Texas Health System (STHS), based in Edinburg, has been honored with the Texas Hospital Association's 2011 Bill Aston Award for Quality in the Non-Research, Non-Teaching Hospital category.

Knapp Medical Center Joins South Texas Health System

McAllen, TX (November 30, 2011) — South Texas Health System announced today that it reached an agreement to bring Knapp Medical Center (KMC), located in Weslaco, TX, into the health system. The partnership incorporates KMC into the South Texas Health System (STHS), which has four acute care facilities, Edinburg Regional Medical Center, Edinburg Children's Hospital, McAllen Medical Center and McAllen Heart Hospital; one behavioral health center, South Texas Behavioral Health Center; and a short-stay surgical hospital, Cornerstone Regional Hospital.
