Welcome to McAllen Medical Center

Joe RileyThank you for visiting the McAllen Medical Center website. McAllen Medical Center is the flagship hospital for South Texas Health System, one the largest employers in the southern region of Texas with a workforce of more than 2,200 dedicated individuals and a medical staff of nearly 600 physicians in 50 specialty areas.

Since 1919, McAllen Municipal Hospital — which would later become McAllen Medical Center — has been providing quality care to one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. We are proud to be designated as an Advanced Level III Trauma Center in the Upper Rio Grande Valley, a growing community of about 800,000 people. We are proud to offer a 24/7 neurosurgery program, an advanced orthopedics program, the most experienced neo-natal intensive care unit in the region, the only kidney transplant center in all of South Texas, and we are proud to serve our veteran population through a contract with the U.S. Veterans Administration.

South Texans need not travel far to find quality healthcare. It is our goal and commitment to you at McAllen Medical Center to continue providing unsurpassed service and continue expanding and improving upon our service lines. We offer hundreds of hours of free community health and wellness education programs every year, benefitting the entire family, from newborns to seniors.

We welcome you to our hospital and look forward to the opportunity to care for you and your loved ones.
